Chicago Cubs Lineup (9/9/24): Swanson Batting Second, Busch Sixth, Hendricks Facing Dodgers

Swanson Moves Up to Second, Busch Sixth in Revamped Lineup

The Chicago Cubs are shaking up their lineup for Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, with Dansby Swanson moving up to the second spot and Ian Happ sliding down to third. Patrick Wisdom will bat cleanup, followed by Seiya Suzuki, Nelson Velazquez, and Miles Mastrobuoni. Tucker Barnhart will bat eighth, and Rafael Ortega will lead off.

The most significant change is Swanson moving up in the order. The shortstop has been one of the Cubs' most consistent hitters this season, batting .295 with 17 home runs and 59 RBIs. He has also been a force on the base paths, stealing 12 bases.

Hendricks Draws Dodgers’ Heaney

Kyle Hendricks will take the mound for the Cubs on Tuesday. The right-hander is 8-7 with a 4.58 ERA this season. He will face Dodgers' left-hander Andrew Heaney, who is 2-1 with a 2.12 ERA in four starts since joining the team.

Hendricks has struggled against the Dodgers in his career, going 1-2 with a 5.40 ERA in four starts. However, he has pitched well lately, allowing just two earned runs in his last two starts.

Game Preview

The Cubs and Dodgers are both fighting for playoff contention. The Cubs are currently 68-66, while the Dodgers are 82-52. A win for the Dodgers would clinch a playoff berth, while a loss for the Cubs would put them on the brink of elimination.

The game is scheduled to start at 8:10 p.m. CT at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
